British Council continues with Selector Live parties!
Free entrance, dress code.
Selector Live parties focus on the most exciting up and coming British music selected by the editors of the Selector radio program. The program is produced by the British Council and is broadcast from London to more than 3 million people in 40 countries. The Guardian described Selector as “More radical in its programming than all music radio in Britain”.
The weekly programme covers all styles of contemporary music – you’ll hear indie, grime, dub step, folk, soul, electro and everything else in between. From April 2013 Selector has been broadcast on Megapolis 89.5FM.
The headliners of the next Selector Live party are two avant-garde British bands well known for giving spectacular live performances:
Named after a West Indian village on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent, Birmingham based Troumaca are as much a melting pot of sound as they are bound together by their longstanding heritage. Marrying the best bits of UK bass culture and great British songwriting, Troumaca occupy a musical space all of their own but are blessed with a sound that is instantly loveable. Referencing Caribbean gospel and its soulful harmonies as a major influence in their song arrangements, Troumaca’s sound carries a tropical swing. Live performances of the band make them famous beyond the festival grounds. Troumaca’s debut album, predicted to have a bright future, will be released at the end of August.
DEAN BLUNT (UK)
Dean Blunt is one half of the Hype Williams duo that music critics around the world have admired for 3 last years. Known as a mystifier and a genius, Dean’s solo debut album Redemeer (2013) has been set to become one of the most acclaimed albums of the year. Dean Blunt live performances are visual installations accompanied by rhythm-and-blues, psychedelic soul and minimalist art-rock.
