This Shakespeare dedicated lesson aims to develop the speaking and listening skills of teenage children. Through a quiz-show format, they will explore the most frequently used Shakespeare quotations; learn about their origin and find out in which situation they can be used nowadays.

Children will explore modern British culture and its Shakespearean heritage through interactive tasks, videos and texts.

Teacher: Ekaterina Chistovskaya, associate professor, candidate of Philological Sciences, professor of theory and practice of English language at Moscow State Regional university. Ekaterina studied English literature at the Norwich Institute for Language Education (UK) and since 2012 has been a trained coach for the British Council.

English lesson “Who were you, Mr. Shakespeare?” 14+

What do we actually know about Shakespeare? A treasure hunt will reveal the life story of the great Bard and we’ll find ourselves looking at the greatest English playwright from a completely different perspective. Could Shakespeare have been a noble man? Or was ‘Shakespeare’ really a group of playwrights? Is the gossip true that Shakespeare was the pen name of the most famous woman of that time? We’ll make our own investigations and follow the clues in the mystery of the most known English writer who is almost unknown to us!

Teacher: Irina Kostyukovich, a British Council trained coach since 1999, a teacher at the English Gymnasium and director of the "Prometey" Educational Centre in Protvino.

English lesson “Around the Globe” 11+

Shakespeare’s Globe was built by Shakespeare's theatrical company! An interactive lesson will take us on excursion around the theatre. What did the Globe look like? What was so special about it? Who were the actors? What did it feel like to watch a performance in the times of Shakespeare? How much would we understand the English that Shakespeare spoke? Words connected with theatre will also be part of the lesson as well as the chance to become a spectators, actor and even Shakespeare!
