The British Council and Cool Connections are proud to present the New British Film Festival in Russia, an annual film festival that gives viewers the opportunity to see the UK’s best award-winning film productions.

During the past years we have shown films by Ken Loach, Steven Riley, James Marsh, Yorgos Lanthimos and many other directors, many of those personally attended the festival to present their works at premiere screenings in Russia. Moreover, such prominent actors as Helen Mirren, Brian Cox, Ralph Fiennes, Lynne Ramsay, Ben Wheatley and representatives of production companies Moving in Action, Warp Film, Lux, Tandem Films etc.

For several years together with Moscow Film School we organise New British Film Festival Talks – a series of talks and discussions about the development of film industry.

XVIII New British Film Festival

To celebrate the UK-Russia Year of Science and Education 2017 the focus of the XVIII New British Film Festival will be moved to the science fiction films and documentaries. The talks within the traditional educational programme will reflect the topics of introducing new technologies through cinema, visual effects and computer graphics in movies (workshops from practitioners) and new forms and genres as the tool for sharing knowledge.
