The British Council team works on strengthening the international interest in British music culture, offering the whole spectrum of its genres to Russian audience – from modern electro to classical music, from jazz and folk to indie-rock.

Listed among our projects are music festivals, concerts, conferences, master classes and even radio shows – the British Council launches its own radio programme Selector. The series of Russian parties in its support, Selector Live and Selector AfterDark, has been introducing listeners to the creations of best young promising British musicians and DJs for the second consecutive year. In 2015 the Selector programme developed into the festival Selector PRO, which took place at the Institute of media, architecture and design “Strelka” on the 31st July and the 1st August.

Our projects

  • The Selector is a weekly two-hour show that covers all styles of music, from indie, dubstep, folk, soul, electro and everything in between. The show features interviews, mixes and exclusive live sessions from some of the most exciting British artists. Hosted by DJ and presenter Goldierocks, The Selector presents an overview of all that is exciting and fresh in British music. The show reflects the brilliance and diversity of British music, promoting the sounds, talents and musical culture of modern Britain to an international audience.
  • Selector Live - a series of parties Selector Live Beefeater Sessions, held by the British Council in Russia in support of the radio show Selector, takes place at the major concert venues in Moscow with participation of the British artists and introduces the various musical directions’ representatives – from guitar indie-rock to “intelligent” electro.
