The UK-Russia Year of Language and Literature was a campaign to use two of the UK’s greatest assets, language and literature, to engage with Russia through people-to-people links.
Building on the success of the UK-Russia Year of Culture in 2014, the programme was a celebration of the respect which people in the UK and Russia have for each other’s culture and literature.
As 2016 was the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, many events celebrated the influence of the playwright’s work on global and Russian culture.
