Julian Gough was born in London, raised in Tipperary, educated in Galway, and lives in Berlin.
Julian writes serious novels disguised as funny novels. His recent novella, «CRASH! How I Lost A Hundred Billion And Found True Love», went to #1 in the UK Kindle Singles chart.
His novel Jude in Ireland was shortlisted for the 2008 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction. Although Will Self won the prestigious prize, certain events subsequently enabled Julian to steal Will Self’s glory).
In April 2007, Julian won the biggest prize in the world for a single short story, the BBC National Short Story Award, for «The Orphan and the Mob».
Before that, Julian was best known for writing the novel Juno & Juliet.
He also, in his youth, wrote the words (and sang) on four albums by the cult Galway group, Toasted Heretic. They even had a top ten hit with this song.
