From 3 to 4 February 2021 the Ulyanovsk – Cultural Capital foundation, together with the UK and Russian partners, will run an intensive course devoted to current problems in contemporary art. This event is part of UK-Russia Creative Bridge 2020-21 programme, with the Ulyanovsk – Cultural Capital foundation a winner of the regional bursary scheme for Russian cultural institutions.
The course will begin on 3 February with a talk on contemporary art in Russia and the UK delivered by art critic Dmitry Gutov and Senior Curator of Tate Liverpool Kasia Redzisz. The talk will be moderated by the Deputy Director of the Ulyanovsk regional Museum of Fine Arts Anna Karvaleiru.
On 4 February there will be a case study conference "Support and Development of Contemporary Art: UK and Russian Experience". Five sections will be devoted to different aspects of contemporary art promotion: governmental support, education, art management and curatorship, key venues, creatives’ view. The conference will be moderated by Asya Philippova – director of the Fabrika (Factory) cluster for creative industries (Moscow). Among speakers there will be directors of art galleries and other art venues, cultural managers, curators, and art researchers from the UK and Russia.
