On 28 June at 11 am there will be a film screening in partnership with BKC-IH and the Documentary film centre as part of our Educational Saturday project. We will show a film by Robb Leech, My Brother the Islamist (60mins, 2011, UK).
Tree surgeon turned film-maker Robb Leech is desperate to know why his white middle-class step-brother Rich became radical Islamist Salahuddin, who associates with jihadist fundamentalists and believes Britain should be ruled by Sharia law. The film charts the brothers' relationship, and Robb's attempt to understand Rich’s new extremist life-style. With unique access and filmed over twelve months, the film attracted an extraordinary response when first broadcast. Gripping, shocking and emotionally compelling.
The screening will be in English with no subtitles or translation.
After the screening there will be a discussion with Cecile Fretz, a licensed CELTA specialist on communicative methods of language teaching.
Entrance is free, but registration is required.
Age restriction: 16+
If you don’t have chance to register, you can still attend the screening and get a free seat according to availability on the doors.
