The workshop is meant for university teachers of Business English whose students’ needs for ESP are different from those of in-service business employees. The major difference is the content of the course and its reliance on the major theories that determine contemporary business. At the same time, students have to master the practical language and communication skills that reflect the reality of their future work in business. Workshop participants will look at how teaching materials based on actual recordings of real business meetings, presentations and discussions are used to develop students’ business communication skills in speaking and writing.Concrete examples from the new course ‘Business Advantage’ will be used to show how theory and practice can be merged to form the students’ educational and career advantage.

Ludmila Gorodetskaya is Professor of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Area Studies, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and Cambridge University Press methodologist and teacher trainer.
