Following the internationalisation of higher education, researchers, university professors, administrators have to develop their English language skills in order to communicate more effectively in their work or research environment. The speaker will talk about a brand new language course «English for Academics» which is the result of implementing one of the British Council projects in Russia. The international course is with a strong focus on the core skills needed for the members of international academic community, catering for the needs of teachers and adult learners across the globe. During the webinar you will focus on the principles underlying the course and will look at some of the course book activities. You will consider whether it is necessary to develop academics’ critical thinking skills and why.

Ekaterina Shadrova, PhD in Pedagogy, is a British Council regional trainer based in Vologda. She teaches different English courses at the Vologda State University and she is a coauthor of «English for Academics». Ekaterina is also a teacher trainer, leading on both face-to-face and online training.
