Gwendoline Riley

Gwendoline Riley was born in London in 1979. She is the author of five novels. Cold Water (2002) won the Betty Trask Award and was named one of the year's best debut novels by The Guardian

Joshua Spassky (2007) won the Somerset Maugham Award and was shortlisted for the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize.

Gwendoline Riley's latest book First Love (2017) was shortlisted for the Bailey's Women's Prize for Fiction. She also reviews regularly for the Times Literary Supplement.

She lives in London.

Gwendoline Riley is participant of the seminar "British Literature Today", organised by the British Council in partnership with the Leo Tolstoy estate museum Yasnaya Polyana from 12 to 15 July 2017 at Yasnaya polyana.
