In August 1996, an indie band from the council estates of Manchester achieved something that had never before been done. Playing to quarter of a million people – Oasis’s two concerts at Knebworth were at the time the biggest ever seen.
Being unknown three years previously, the duet of Gallagher brothers won the title of bad boys of rock ‘n’ roll and conquered the musical stage of nineties. Getting higher and higher, they couldn’t get any bigger, but they were addicts and they wanted more and more – as did their ever loyal fans. And the peak of their meteoric rise became the beginning of the devastating fall.
A new work by Matt Whitecross (The Road to Guantanamo, The Shock Doctrine, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll) immerses us in the raucous rock stars’ fast-paced world of electrifying music, wild debauchery, and epic fraternal feuding, weaving never-before-seen concert footage with candid interviews and an astonishing firsthand account of the backstage sibling rivalry that threatened to destroy the band.
