The YCE fashion and design award is aimed at creative professionals and entrepreneurs who innovate creative and cultural industries locally and strive to reach international markets.

About

We are inviting professionals from any of the following areas:

  • architecture, interiors and environment
  • product design manufacture: furniture, industrial products and craft
  • design promotion: exhibitions, events, festivals and retail
  • consultants providing specialist services in any of the areas outlined
  • fashion, textile, accessories or perfume design and production
  • fashion promotion: shows, exhibitions, festivals, events
  • fashion retail: buying, merchandising
  • fashion product research, sourcing, supply chain management
  • fashion marketing, PR, branding, journalism
  • fashion publishing, communications, websites
  • consultants providing specialist services in any of the areas outlined.

In 2014, ten international winners will participate in a shared tour of the UK’s fashion and design sector. The programme allows winners to gain unique access to, and insights into the UK industry, as well as providing a fantastic opportunity to make a wide range of business contacts that will act as a springboard for future business/collaborations between the UK and internationally. The tour will run from 10–17 September 2014 (TBC) while London plays host to London Fashion week and London Design week.

The programme will include:

  • curated group meetings to give an overview of what’s happening in the UK media industry
  • peer networking with international participants and young UK multimedia entrepreneurs
  • access to, and master classes with senior UK industry figures
  • time for individual business meetings
  • opportunities to network and make business contacts.

London Fashion Week is run by the British Fashion Council, the official voice of the designer fashion industry. It aims, with the help of industry benefactors, to promote British fashion design worldwide. London Fashion Week is now established as one of London’s premier events, attracting a target audience of key fashion leaders, retailers and press who attend this biannual showcase for British designer fashion.

London Fashion Week includes catwalk shows and a trade exhibitions as well as the world’s leading new designer sponsorship scheme, New Generation. YCE participants will have the opportunity to attend key activities within the programme.

The best projects creators will also be invited to take part in project «Nikola-Lenivets Artel».

The award selection will be made by the British Council and in consultation with sector experts.

Oleg Goncharov
Centre for territorial initiatives ‘Archpolis’ Director

Oleg Goncharov, MSU graduate, is an experienced general manager for projects in real estate and cinema production. In 2009 he launched art cluster — design-factory Flacon and was its general manager for several following years. Currently Oleg Goncharov is a head of the Centre for territorial initiatives ‘Archpolis’ — non-profit organization, founded in 2011 as a ground for creative ideas realization within Nikola-Lenivets area. Together with the owners of urban and rural property ‘Archpolis’ is creating the conditions for economically and socially sustainable ambiance through territorial and educational projects.

 

Anna Dulgerova
Marketing and PR consultant and creative manager

From 1999 to 2006 Anna worked for Conde Nast, including her position as an executive fashion director for Vogue, from 2006 till 2009 Anna was a general manager for Denis Simachev Company. Since 2009 Anna has been working as an independent producer and consultant. Among her curated projects are «Cycles and Seasons» (together with Andrey Artemov), non-profit institution BAIBAKOV art projects, development and production of art-program for «Summer in New Holland», Russian edition of GARAGE magazine, development strategy concept for Rusmoda company and Alexander Terekhov brand and marketing and communications for Tsvetnoy Central Market.

 

Natalia Turovnikova
Journalist and blogger VOGUE.ru

Curator of young designers contest «Preview» (as a part of Cycles&Seasons by MasterCard), Vogue Russia contributor, goodwill ambassador of Natalia Vodianova’s Naked Heart Foundation, creative consultant for VOGUE Fashion Night Out Moscow, DJ at the acclaimed LOVEBOAT parties, as featured in French Vogue and Conde Nast Traveller. One of the top fashion bloggers in Russia, Natalia also styles and produces fashion shows and magazine photoshoots for a number of designers in Moscow and beyond.

 

Anastasia Sartan
TrendsBrands Store Founder

Trends Brands is a young ambitious and successful internet project that represents clothing and accessories brands from all over the world. TrendsBrands was launched in 2011 and since then has become one of the biggest online designers clothing stores. Trends Brands collaborates with more than 100 brands, has five offline stores in the city centre of Moscow, provides free shipping all over Russia, supports special platform SuperMarket that helps to promote young designers.  

 

Daria Kravtsova
Leading designer and art-director of Carlo Pazzolini Group

Daria has been working for 14 years for the international company Carlo Pazzolini Group — one of the leading manufacurers of men and women footwear in Russia. Daria has been active in design since her student years, her first shoes collection Route 0101 was highly-acclaimed by Jean — Charles de Castelbajac. Daria took part in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia in collaboration with British designer and curator Claire Lopman. Daria was awarded with special prize of Practicum: British Fashion 3, organized by British Council.
Daria is responsible for footwear and accessories design for Carlo Pazzolini in Russia.

Applicants must:

  • own or be the driving force behind a young business in the digital publishing sector with at least two years’ experience, but no more than 7 years in business
  • be entrepreneurial and have shown their ability in the promotion of that creative sector in their country, in either a commercial context, public context, or both
  • through their character, drive and abilities, demonstrate their potential to be a future leader of the sector in their country and a future partner for the UK
  • have English language skills to IELTS 6 – ‘competent user’ or above.

Please note that while there is no upper age limit for the awards, this is an award for emerging entrepreneurs who are running young businesses.
