With the ever-expanding digital tools, there are more and more opportunities for cultural venues to expand their activity, practice and reach by connecting the physical and digital spaces. As a sector we are at the start of the journey to discover what a new hybrid model of a venue can look like.
As part of the second UK-Russia Creative Bridge online forum, the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in Moscow invites young creative professionals to join this active session to explore what a new hybrid model of a venue can look like. How can traditional venues build communities across digital and real-world spaces? How do we use these new possibilities to create a bolder, further reaching, more diverse programming and audience?
The workshop will be facilitated by Annette Mees, Artistic Director of Audience Labs at King's College London, and Ash Mann, Managing Director at Substrakt. In conversation with the audience, the speakers will explore possible futures while simultaneously giving simple tools, ideas and structures to instigate digital R&D and change within your organisation.

Ash Mann
Ash is the Managing Director of Substrakt, a digital agency who design and build digital products and services for cultural organisations in Europe and North America.
Annette Mees
Annette Mees is an award-winning artistic director known for her innovative, interdisciplinary and experiential work that allows audiences to explore big ideas and create meaningful change. She is currently Artistic Director of Audience Labs which explores the artistic possibilities of immersive technologies. It partners leading artists with cutting-edge creative technologists to push boundaries of what is possible. Audience Labs started at the Royal Opera House and has recently moved to King’s University with an eye on expanding the future of performance.
Next to that she advises organisations on the future of culture and artistic innovation and mentors diverse artists who are exploring new forms of artistic practise or work in the cross-over between art and activism.
She is the chair of FutureEverything an arts organisation based in Manchester who explore the intersection of art, technology and society through bold new art commissions, living labs, participatory design and public events.
Selection criteria

- Russian Federation citizenship
- More than 1 year of work experience in Creative Industries
The workshop is run in English with translation. The participation is free of charge. The Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy will conduct the selection process in line with equality and diversity policies.
