The winner is Irina Sheveleva, Product Lead at Bookmate.

Bookmate is a unique online platform that provides a great range of e-books of different genres, from scientific articles to fantasy and detective stories. Bookmate has a special app for mobile devices. Subscribers can share comments, make lists of favourite books, vote for the best book and track the results of large book contests and awards. Bookmate is a product of Dream Industries.

As a winner of the YCE Digital Publishing Award Irina will take part in the professional development programme which will take place from 5th to 12th April 2014 in London. The programme will include curated group meetings with representatives of the international digital publishing market, a visit to the London Book Fair, round tables and discussions with the winners from other countries.

The London Book Fair is the global marketplace for rights negotiation and the sale and distribution of content across print, audio, TV, film and digital channels. Taking place every spring in the world’s premier publishing and cultural capital, it is a unique opportunity to explore, understand and capitalise on the innovations shaping the publishing world of the future. The London Book Fair brings delegates direct access to customers, content and emerging markets. Korea will be the Market Focus country in 2014.

 

Finalists of YCE Digital Publishing:

Alexandra Kochetkova — creator of the Touchanka project, specialising in interactive books.
As a prize Alexandra receives an English course (96 hrs) from BKC Centre.

Vera Yudintseva — Project Manager at the Book Institute.
As a prize Vera receives an Amazon Kindle.

Anastasia Buryak — Head of e-publishing department at Ad Marginem publishing house.
As a prize Anastasia receives a certificate from Moscow Bookshop.

Dmitry Garmaev — Founder of Tartaria Magna scientific review.
As a finalist Dmitry receives a certificate from Lit Res online store.

In 2014 the British Council celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Young Creative Entrepreneur Award (YCE) Programme. The international programme has been running in Russia for several years, and the YCE 2014 programme has been scaled up significantly as part of the UK-Russia Year of Culture 2014.

The YCE Awards are aimed at creative professionals and entrepreneurs who innovate creative and cultural industries locally and strive to reach international markets.

We invited professionals from any of the following areas:

  • Digital Publishing
  • Agents with a digital specialism
  • Literary festivals with digital emphasis
  • Retailing (including e-tailing)
  • Consultants providing specialist services in any of the areas outlined

Sergey Anuriev
LitRes, General Director

Sergey Anuriev graduated from the National Research University Higher School of Economics and started his carrier as a strategic consultant. During 6 years in that field he implemented more than 20 projects in different areas — from atomic energy industry to publishing. He designed and implemented development strategies for major Russian companies, including two of the largest publishing houses. His 4 years’ experience of consulting publishing houses helped Sergey to develop a profound knowledge of the publishing industry.
In 2007 he headed the Department of E-commerce in the Eksmo publishing house. Over three years he elaborated and developed a new direction — the publishing and distribution of e-books in Russia.
In March 2010, Sergey became a general director of the LitRes — one of the leading distributors of licensed e-books in Russia and CIS. 

 

Ivan Zasurskiy
Chastny Korrespondent on-line media, Founder and publisher
Web-Publishers Association, President

Ivan Zasurskiy is a journalist, candidate of Philological Sciences, lecturer, producer and researcher. He is a head of the department of new media and theory of communication in the Faculty of Journalism (MSU) and founder of the on-line library Vernsky, which contains scientific and research papers. He wrote more than 500 works for periodicals in Russia and abroad. Ivan hosts the talk show «Press Club XXI».
In 2008, Ivan founded «Chastny Korrespondent» — the first Russian online media acting under the Creative Commons. In November 2011 «Chastny Korrespondent» won the Runet «Culture and media» Award. 

 

Tatiana Ilyna
British Council, Head of Arts Department

Tatiana has been running British Council projects in literature for many years. She was one of the curators of the Russia Market Focus 2011 programme.  

 

Marina Kadetova
Compasgid Publishing House, Chief Editor

Marina graduated from the faculty of publishing and journalism (Moscow State University of Printing Arts). As a student she started working at Samokat editing house (2005–2009 г. ) — first as an event coordinator, than as an editor. In 2009 Marina moved to Compasgid editing house, which was focused on the development of a new platform that would unite different cultural centres in Moscow and abroad.
In 4 years Compasgid has published around 140 books for children, teenagers and their parents (series such as Open Dialog, Citizen of the world etc. ). Nowadays Compasgid is actively working on new projects, arranging meetings with authors and presentations of new books, educating the public on how to work with books, and promoting active citizenship. 

 

Vladimir Kharitonov
Web-Publishers Association, Executive Director

Vladimir graduated from the Philosophy Faculty of the Ural State University, where he was a lecturer on the history of culture and other courses on philosophy. He has co-ordinated sociological studies and marketing research. Vladimir wrote a number of works for «NG-Ex libris», «Computerra», «Chastny Korrespondent»
Vladimir has been working in the publishing sector since 1997, mainly with translated literature of humanitarian sciences and non-fiction, for Ural State University, U-Factoria, Ultra. Kultura, and Astrel. As an executive director of the Web-Publishers Association Vladimir manages a number of activities: supporting the web-standards of data dissemination, adjusting digital information rights to reality, introducing Russian cultural heritage into the digital world, and promoting qualitative standards of e-publishing.
