On 1 August 2015 as part of the Selector PRO music festival, the British Council will host the discussion “The future of urban festivals” with Jon Clifford (Field Day), Andrey Samorukov (Subbotnik), Anna Pavlyuchkova “Picnic Afisha”. Moderator - Georgy Birger.

The discussion will take place in the courtyard of the Strelka Institute, (Bersenevskaya Naberezhnaya 14/5A.)

Jon Clifford

Joining Eat Your Own Ears and Field Day in early 2014, Jon previously worked as a musician, independent label owner and promoter in the Indie/DIY scene in London. Having released music for acts such as MYSTYRYS, Sarah Johns Music Party, The Vivids and Soft Arrows; he started his own live music promotions venture specialising in hosting events in unusual venues whilst studying an MA in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths, University of London. During this period, Jon began work with Eat Your Own Ears and Field Day and has been responsible for the social media campaigns and digital marketing for Eat Your Own Ears and Field Day since October 2014.

Field Day Festival is an inner city music festival that has taken place in Victoria Park since 2007 and attracts over 20 000 spectators yearly. It hosts the brightest alternative rock and independent electronics representatives including Four Tet, Caribou, as well as Patti Smith and The Pixies. It hosted members of different "Best New Music" lists such as Run the Jewels, SBTRKT, Jamie XX and dozens of others. The festival prides itself on offering something different from the mainstream across a huge number of genres and will be celebrating its 10th year in 2016.

Andrey Samorukov

Andrey Samorukov is the producer of the Subbotnik festival. Subbotnik is an international music festival which was held in Moscow in 2013 and 2014 in Gorky Park. It was organised by PMI corporation and Pop Farm concert agency.

Subbotnik became the first music event of a similar scale ever hosted in Gorky park. The plan was for it to be an annual event but unfortunately in 2015 its cancellation was announced. The first festival was held on Saturday 6 July 2013 and hosted performances by Hurts, Foals, Jessie Ware, Savages, Motorama, Savages, 130 po vstrechnoy na staren’koy Vespa, the legendary defile of 1976 and Kasta, and the British group Arctic Monkeys.

Anna Pavlyuchkova

Since 2013 Anna has been Managing Director of the "Afisha Picnic" festival. She previously worked as Deputy Chief Editor at TimeOut St.Petersburg and PR Director of Sobaka publishing house.

The Afisha Picnic is a one-day outdoor festival held in Moscow since 2004 attracting more than 50 000 visitors every year. Among the headliners are Madness, Amanda Palmer, The Future Sound of London, M83, Calla, Sons and Daughters, Buck 65, Beirut, Dengue Fever, Clinic, Mum, Dälek, Junior Boys, Martina Topley-Bird, DeVotchKa, Black Lips, The Teenagers, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, HushPuppies, These New Puritans, Lo-Fi-Fnk, Shy Child, Late of The Pier, Chromatics, Glass Candy, Minitel Rose, Fan Death, and Telepathe. 

The festival is organized by Afisha Magazine, a major entertainment magazine.
