The UK-Russia Year of Science and Education 2017 aimed to energise UK-Russia collaboration in science and education and to demonstrate the contribution that scientific, educational and cultural relations can make to friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and Russia.
A series of high profile events and initiatives included new UK-Russia university partnerships, joint symposia on anti-microbial resistance and science diplomacy, a science week that delivered UK content to students and teachers in schools across Russia and a Future Science train on the Circle Line of the Moscow Metro which showcased groundbreaking work by both UK and Russian scientists.
Two legacies of the Year of Science and Education were the three-year, Future Science programme and the UK Vice-Chancellors and Principals mission to Russia.
